{"id":539939,"date":"2010-04-22T12:47:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-22T16:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16432059.post-8606628107368269607"},"modified":"2010-04-22T12:47:42","modified_gmt":"2010-04-22T16:47:42","slug":"we-remember-the-past-we-have-faith-in-the-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/539939","title":{"rendered":"We Remember the Past, We Have Faith in the Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year since we launched Cleantech Blog this week marks a massive inflow of green press releases, phone calls, announcements and interview requests.&nbsp; It always seems oddly out of place, and anything important we have to say always just seems lost in the press of Earth Day.<\/p>\n<p>In reality this week is a week for remembrance, introspection, and then a pause before looking forward to an always brighter future.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>My remembrance always starts a day earlier.&nbsp; Yesterday, April 21st was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muster_(Texas_A&amp;M_University)\">Aggie Muster<\/a>, the day that thousands of Aggies around the world hold the roll call for the absent, where a family member answers&#8221;here&#8221; for those former students who have died in the previous year and cannot answer for themselves.&nbsp; The roots of Muster date back over a hundred years, and we have formally held Muster since 1922 all around the world.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aggienetwork.com\/muster\/song_AMD.aspx?PageID=952\">Softly call the muster, softly call the roll<\/a>.&nbsp; We do remember.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And today, the day after is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Earth_Day\">Earth Day<\/a>, now 40 years old, the day we remember our planet, think about what we should be doing better, and recently, make our New Earth Year&#8217;s resolutions for what we will do better.<\/p>\n<p><em>We will remember, we will do better.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And in both cases, look forward to the next year and a bright future standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s hoping that when we are gone, future generations will hold both their history and their planet dear, will have a reason to mark what we did with our time on Earth with reverence, and will still be working and looking forward to an even&nbsp;brighter, cleaner&nbsp;future for the generations to follow them.<\/p>\n<p><em>Neal Dikeman is a partner at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janecapital.com\/\">Jane Capital Partners<\/a>, Chairman of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carbonflow.com\/\">Carbonflow<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cleantech.org\/\">Cleantech.org<\/a>, and a 3rd generation Texas Aggie Class of &#8217;98.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">Content provided by and all rights reserved to CleantechBlog.com.
