Who\u2019s Verna, you ask? We know her better as the Accent, a car that just so happens to be due for an update.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-interior.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-19747\" title=\"2011 Hyundai Verna interior\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-interior-440x247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-19744\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t able to get any solid stats\u2014press kits and my grasp of Chinese were both depleted by the time I made it to Hyundai\u2019s stand\u2014but I did manage to snap a few pictures of this baby-Sonata-style compact. Aesthetically it\u2019s certainly an improvement on the current car\u2019s long-in-the-tooth design, and the interior has a piano-black center stack similar to that found in the new Sonata.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-Blue-rear.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-19748\" title=\"2011 Hyundai Verna Blue\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-Blue-rear-440x284.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-engine.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-19749\" title=\"2011 Hyundai Verna engine\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-engine-220x123.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>Other details of note: The red car was badged as a Blue model, denoting it gets fuel-efficiency tweaks similar if not downright identical to those found on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/car\/09q2\/hyundai_kia_plan_fuel-sipping_variants_of_accent_elantra_and_forte-car_news\">Hyundai\u2019s current Blue models<\/a>, i.e. low-rolling-resistance tires, aero add-ons, a smart alternator, and higher-cog-count automatic transmission. The engines in these cars feature variable valve timing, so its safe to say that the U.S.-market Accent will add the tech to its small-displacement four-cylinder. Direct injection is likely, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-rear-low.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-19750\" title=\"2011 Hyundai Verna\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.caranddriver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/2011-Hyundai-Verna-rear-low-440x271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This revitalized Accent should make it to the States in 2011.
