(I wasn&#8217;t one of the reporters: my lottery for the pool coverage had me heading over this afternoon.) But Army Lt. Col. Jon Jackson, one of Khadr&#8217;s military lawyers, just ventured forth to tell the press corps not to bother: the hearing is delayed.<\/p>\n<p>How come? Because of yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/83345\/hours-before-khadr-hearing-begins-gates-signs-manual-for-military-commissions\">late-breaking release of the Manual for the military commissions<\/a>. Col. Pat Parrish, the judge hearing the case, ordered a delay until 1 p.m. so that prosecution and defense counsel (and, perhaps, he himself) can familiarize themselves with the Manual&#8217;s prescriptions for the commissions&#8217; rules of evidence and procedure.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m in the afternoon pool to sit in the courtroom. There&#8217;s no way to communicate with the outside world inside the super-secure courtroom. (I can&#8217;t even tweet!)
