{"id":546268,"date":"2010-04-28T18:58:52","date_gmt":"2010-04-28T22:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com\/?p=17612"},"modified":"2010-04-28T18:58:52","modified_gmt":"2010-04-28T22:58:52","slug":"iranian-plane-checks-out-uss-eisenhower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/546268","title":{"rendered":"Iranian Plane Checks out USS Eisenhower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Multiple U.S. military sources tell Fox News early\u00a0morning\u00a0on Wednesday, April 21st,\u00a0an Iranian Navy F-27 maritime patrol aircraft, flying in international airspace, flew near the\u00a0USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) shortly after the aircraft carrier had finished\u00a0being resupplied in the Gulf of Oman.<\/p>\n<p>Sources tell Fox this is the type of plane:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fokker_Friendship\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fokker_Friendship<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Senior U.S. military sources say the plane\u2019s closest point of approach was <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">1000 yards<\/span><\/strong> (more than\u00a0\u00bd mile or 10 football fields) from the\u00a0USS Eisenhower.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Military sources say this aircraft was a unarmed multi-engine propeller plane, configured only for maritime patrol. To be precise,\u00a0sources tell Fox\u00a0it had no weapon systems.<\/p>\n<p>Navy personnel identified the aircraft as\u00a0part of\u00a0Iran&#8217;s regular Navy (professional Navy) not the Quds Force.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0plane remained in the area for approximately 20 minutes before leaving the vicinity.\u00a0\u00a0Military sources say\u00a0interaction with the aircraft were routine and consistent with the type of behavior we see daily with their professional Navy.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. aircraft carriers have not operated regularly inside the Arabian Gulf in the past couple of years due to being dedicated to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) support the War in Afghanistan.
