His work may pave the way for therapies that manipulate oxygen to treat diseases ranging from heart disease and anemia to cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBill has made groundbreaking discoveries that have transformed our understanding of many forms of cancer,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/physicians.dana-farber.org\/directory\/profile.asp?dbase=main&amp;setsize=10&amp;display=Y&amp;nxtfmt=r&amp;gs=r&amp;picture_id=0000316&amp;lookup=Y&amp;pict_id=0000316\">Edward J. Benz Jr.<\/a>, the Richard and Susan Smith Professor of Medicine, professor of Pediatrics, and professor of pathology at Dana-Farber. \u201cHis work has also pointed the way to new strategies to find better therapies for these tumors.
