Launched with gifts totaling $4 million, the professorship is named for international financial consultant and HKS alumnus Minos A. Zombanakis, M.P.A. \u201956, A.M. \u201957. The Minos A. Zombanakis Professorship of the International Financial System will inaugurate a new area of interdisciplinary study at the Kennedy School.<\/p>\n<p>The Zombanakis Professorship will support a professor and visiting professors of practice whose research and teaching illuminate major policy issues and challenges of the international financial system and serve as a platform for addressing the international monetary system and financial regulation, the role of multilateral institutions including the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and vehicles for international cooperation such as the G-20 (Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors) forum. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/\">Harvard University<\/a> Professorship Challenge Fund has provided a $1 million matching contribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvard Kennedy School is deeply grateful to Mr. Zombanakis and his many friends for this endeavor,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hks.harvard.edu\/about\/faculty-staff-directory\/david-ellwood\">David T. Ellwood<\/a>, Scott M. Black Professor of Political Economy and dean of HKS. \u201cAddressing the global financial challenges of today is a top priority for policymakers throughout the world.
