{"id":547115,"date":"2010-04-29T14:00:25","date_gmt":"2010-04-29T18:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.harvard.edu\/gazette\/?p=45184"},"modified":"2010-04-29T14:00:25","modified_gmt":"2010-04-29T18:00:25","slug":"hogarty-named-vice-president-for-campus-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/547115","title":{"rendered":"Hogarty named Vice President for Campus Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lisa Hogarty, a seasoned administrator with experience in academia and the health care industry, has been named Vice President for Campus Services at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/\">Harvard University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis position demands an executive who can manage the daily operations of a large institution while pursuing a strategic vision that bolsters the University\u2019s teaching and research mission,\u201d said Executive Vice President <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evp.harvard.edu\/\">Katherine N. Lapp<\/a>, who announced Hogarty\u2019s hiring today (April 29). \u201cLisa has the perfect mix of leadership skills for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hogarty comes to Harvard after nearly eight years at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbia.edu\/\">Columbia University<\/a>, where she served most recently as chief operating officer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cumc.columbia.edu\/\">Columbia University Medical Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She assumes responsibility of a newly configured department with 1,600 employees and oversight of essential operations at the University\u2019s Schools and central units, as well as its emergency management program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled to join Katie Lapp\u2019s team,\u201d said Hogarty, who added that advancing efforts to integrate procurement and increasing coordination among the Campus Services units would be among her early priorities.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most impressive thing to me is that many of these departments really perform at the best-practices standard, if not the gold standard,\u201d she said. \u201cHow do we leverage that exceptional service and take advantage of the real leadership talent in place so that we can take it to the next level?\u201d<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Vice President for Campus Services reports to the Executive Vice President and oversees Harvard University Hospitality and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dining.harvard.edu\/about_huds\/index.html\">Dining Services<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hres.harvard.edu\/\">Harvard Real Estate<\/a>, and the University Operations Center. Hogarty also will have responsibility for the administrative and financial operations of <a href=\"http:\/\/harvardmagazine.com\/\">Harvard Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As part of her duties, she will manage <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uos.harvard.edu\/ehs\/\">Environmental Health and Safety<\/a> and lead the University\u2019s Incident Support Team, a cross-departmental group of senior managers charged with coordinating activities in response to any campus crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Hogarty joined Columbia in 2002 as executive vice president for student and administrative services, a role in which she oversaw the construction of a new campus teaching and learning center, redesigned many of the university\u2019s business processes, and led the implementation of an electronic health record system.<\/p>\n<p>She was named chief operating officer of the Medical Center in 2007 and played a key role in restructuring critical areas of university operations. During her tenure, she oversaw the creation of a combined help line for information technology, human resources, and facility support, and the inauguration of an online application process for student housing.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Columbia, Hogarty oversaw hospital operations, capital projects, procurement, and emergency preparedness for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.continuumhealth.net\/\">Continuum Healthcare<\/a> system in New York City and worked at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountsinai.org\/\">Mount Sinai Medical Center<\/a>.
