However, this move towards cleaner highways will burden the grid, which is also striving to get those extra watts without polluting the environment. Several companies have sought a green approach to cater the problem, which comes in the form of charging stations that are fueled by abundant solar energy. Here are 11 such charging stations that won\u2019t burden the grid to make you commute without emissions:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Evergreen Solar\u2019s Solar Fuel Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/evergreen-solar_rr622_69_gkYrM_69.jpg\" alt=\"evergreen solar_rr622_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Evergreen Solar has installed its new solar charging station in a high-traffic area in Frankfurt, Germany. The solar <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/eco-tech-evergreen-solar-debuts-solar-fuel-station-in-germany\/\">\u201cfuel\u201d<\/a> station provides free battery charging for small-scale electric vehicles including Velotaxis, Segways, electric bikes and scooters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Solar Plug-In Car Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/solar-plug-in-car-station_1_ydsg8_69_tS8dQ_69.jpg\" alt=\"solar plug in car station_1_ydsg8_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Designed by Tom Miller, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/solar-plug-in-car-station-will-recharge-your-ev-on-renewable-energy\/\">Solar Plug-in Car Station<\/a> project aims to minimize the impact of EVs on the environment by providing solar recharging stations at convenient locations. The design has a standard kit of parts that can easily be installed and incentivized with discounted parking. The municipal government of Toyota City has adopted the stations and plans to build 21 stations at 11 places. The charging station produces 1.9KW of solar power, which is stored in an 8.4KWh battery pack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Geotectura\u2019s Green Gasoline Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/green-gasoline_1_8c4yc_69_xUnl7_69.jpg\" alt=\"green gasoline_1_8c4yc_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Design firm Geotectura designed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/geotectura-s-green-gasoline-station-offers-solar-powered-ev-charging\/\">Green Gasoline Station<\/a>, which is both green and trendy. The company claims that each canopy is rated at 1.5KWp, and can generate a whopping 1100KWh per year, which could recharge a huge number of cars with green energy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/solar-carport3_u5rpa_69_Fvb8f_69.jpg\" alt=\"solar carport3_u5rpa_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 E-Move Charging Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/e-move-charging-station_1_8w1dq_69_wprK4_69.jpg\" alt=\"e move charging station_1_8w1dq_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Designed by Michael Scherer from Brixen, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/eco-tech-e-move-charging-station-fuels-just-about-everything-with-solar-energy\/\">E-Move Charging Station<\/a> is equipped with eight mono-crystalline photovoltaic modules, which collectively supply 1.76KWp of solar power. The tree-like structures make use of highly efficient PV modules and convert parking lots from an eyesore to a next-gen farm where green energy can easily be accessed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/envision-solar-3_qp69r_69_xiFmM_69.jpg\" alt=\"envision solar 3_qp69r_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/envision-solar-5_wpimn_69_81lz8_69.jpg\" alt=\"envision solar 5_wpimn_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Energy Forest:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/energy-forest_1_dwju2_69_ntUAZ_69.jpg\" alt=\"energy forest_1_dwju2_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/eco-tech-energy-forest-a-nature-inspired-way-to-facilitate-the-grid-with-clean-energy\/\">Energy Forest<\/a> is the brainchild of industrial designer Jaewon Sim, which has been designed as a self-sufficient forest generating solar and wind electricity to facilitate the grid and charge electric vehicles. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/energy-forest_3_x2uus_69_Ibmd9_69.jpg\" alt=\"energy forest_3_x2uus_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Evoasis\u2019 Solar Charging Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/evoasis-electric-car-charging-station_1Lkfi_69.jpg\" alt=\"evoasis electric car charging station\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Evoasis has announced its intention to transform forsaken gas stations in London to slick new high-speed electric vehicle recharging stations that generate renewable electricity using a rooftop array of solar panels. Recharge times for electric cars will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecoautoninja.com\/eco-electric-vehicles\/evoasis-building-fast-electric-car-charging-stations-37089\/\">approximately<\/a> 20 minutes and, in the case of the first station, will include 12 charging spots. They will include a lounge that will sell food and drink to the waiting customers. This first of six such stations will go up on Grosvenor Road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Solar Forest:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/04\/29\/solar-forest_2_fvbdb_69_CX5C9_69.jpg\" alt=\"solar forest_2_fvbdb_69\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Industrial designer Neville Mars has designed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecofriend.org\/entry\/eco-architecture-solar-forest-keeps-your-ev-cool-and-charges-it-as-well\/\">Solar Forest<\/a>, which is conceived as a next-gen car port where cars will be kept cool under the shade of solar panels. These solar panels will generate electricity to charge the EVs parked underneath. Solar panels are mounted on poles, which carry power outlets.
