Special needs individuals get horny, too.\u00a0 Porn is probably something most of the population takes for granted.\u00a0 Without vision, porn is nothing more than an audio track.\u00a0 Probably a guessing game as to what is going on.\u00a0 Porn for the Blind<\/a> takes that issue head on, by narrating exactly what is going on on-screen.\u00a0 It warrants mentioning that the narration is done by amateur volunteers and is WILDLY unsexy.\u00a0 You can hear an example here<\/a> (extremely NSFW, unless your work is cool with really loud, clumsy descriptions of porn web sites).\u00a0 Clearly this must be \u201cPlan B\u201d for the blind.<\/p>\n

So where else do the blind turn for sweet release?\u00a0 Braille, of course.\u00a0 Which I\u2019m assuming is probably the equivalent of erotic fiction.\u00a0 But what about the imagery?\u00a0 Canadian artist Lisa Murphy has addressed this with her new 3-D book, \u201cTactile Mind<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0 The pages contain seventeen images constructed of raised cardboard that can be easily felt to get the gist of the image.\u00a0 Oddly, that\u2019s where the familiarity stops.\u00a0 The tactile figures are oddly-shaped and the face of every character is obscured by masks.\u00a0 The reasoning behind this is unclear, at least on my end.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the blind, these books are handmade, and consequently, really expensive ($225 CDN = $222 US).\u00a0 You can purchase individual diagrams for $25 apiece, but it\u2019s this author\u2019s opinion that would get really old really quick.<\/p>\n

So\u2026.um\u2026.I guess if you know any blind people, you should probably\u2026um\u2026read this to them.\u00a0 Good luck, guys!<\/p>\n
