{"id":55462,"date":"2009-11-30T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-30T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/proprietors-income-quarterly-2009-10"},"modified":"2009-11-30T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-11-30T14:00:00","slug":"small-business-income-has-fallen-off-a-cliff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/55462","title":{"rendered":"Small Business Income Has Fallen Off A Cliff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openforum.com\/idea-hub\/topics\/money\/article\/the-best-business-advice-i-ever-got-henry-blodget\">From OPEN Forum<\/a>: Proprietors&#8217; income (income earned by owner-operated sole-proprietorships or partnerships) fell off a cliff last year.&nbsp; Thankfully, it has finally started to recover.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/~~\/f?id=4b0c93310000000000f929a8\" border=\"0\" alt=\"proprieter's income -quarterly\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These moves makes sense since <strong>proprietors&#8217; income is a coincidental indicator (it moves with the economy)<\/strong>.&nbsp; Specifically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Q407 GDP declined a modest 0.2%, reflected in the slight inflection downward in the above chart.<\/li>\n<li>Q108 GDP actually increased 1% (driven by higher exports and a weaker dollar), which is also reflected in the chart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following the minor growth in Q108, proprietors&#8217; income has dropped significantly in line with GDP declines until Q309, when it rose 4.1%. It is still down 6.8% from its peak one year earlier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We expect small business to continue to recover as the economy does.&nbsp; Which is to say&#8230; if this is a &#8220;v-shaped recovery,&#8221; as some forecasters predict, we&#8217;ll be golden.&nbsp; If it isn&#8217;t, small business owners will remain in the poorhouse.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openforum.com\/idea-hub\/topics\/money\/article\/the-best-business-advice-i-ever-got-henry-blodget\">this article<\/a> was previously published on The OPEN Forum.
