{"id":56122,"date":"2009-11-30T19:57:45","date_gmt":"2009-12-01T00:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"1518 at http:\/\/atlasobscura.com"},"modified":"2009-11-30T19:57:45","modified_gmt":"2009-12-01T00:57:45","slug":"molli-steam-tram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/56122","title":{"rendered":"Molli Steam Tram"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/atlasobscura.com\/taxonomy\/term\/625\">Mecklenburg-Vorpommern<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/atlasobscura.com\/globe\/europe\/germany\">Germany<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/atlasobscura.com\/categories\/inspired-inventions\">Inspired Inventions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the few remaining steam trains in regular use, the Molli is unique in that while within city limits it runs on city streets like a tram. <\/p>\n<p>Molli is the nickname of the Mecklenburgische B\u00e4derbahn Molli train which runs on 900 mm gauge from Bad Doberan to Heiligendamm, the oldest narrow gauge railway on the Baltic coast.<\/p>\n<p>Molli started life 1886, and runs right through towns on its 15.4 kilometer route on tram-like tracks. <\/p>\n<p>Molli runs between Heiligendamm and K\u00fchlungsborn, near the beach, and between Heiligendamm and Bad Doberan parallel to an alley. <\/p>\n<p>The most interesting section is in Bad Doberan, where its rails lay in Goethestrasse like the rails of a tramway on a road.
