Silsby was found guilty of <a href=\"http:\/\/jurist.org\/paperchase\/2010\/04\/haiti-judge-orders-trial-for-us.php\">irregular travel<\/a> [JURIST report] and sentenced to time served during judicial proceedings. At the opening of trial proceedings on Thursday, Haitian prosecutors claimed that Silsby <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5hjSeqH8FU5jGlDyse7gnzbZt8VBgD9FM91GO0\">knew she was breaking the law<\/a> [AP report] when she attempted to take the children into the Dominican Republic and <a href=\"http:\/\/jurist.org\/paperchase\/2010\/05\/haiti-prosecutors-seeking-prison-for-us-missionary.php\">requested a six-month prison term<\/a> [JURIST report]. The court agreed with the prosecution&#8217;s allegations, but denied the request for additional prison time. Silsby has been released and is now permitted to leave the country and return home to Idaho.<\/p>\n<p>Silsby was the only one to face trial of a group of 10 missionaries affiliated with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centralvalleybaptist.net\/cvbc09\/splash\/haiti_statement.cfm?CFID=37667851&amp;CFTOKEN=26943684\">Central Valley Baptist Church<\/a> [church website] of Idaho and the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/americas\/8490843.stm\">New Life Children&#8217;s Refuge Charity<\/a> [BBC profile] who were <a href=\"http:\/\/jurist.org\/paperchase\/2010\/02\/us-citizens-arrested-after-trying-to.php\">arrested<\/a> [JURIST report] in January. A Haitian judge <a href=\"http:\/\/jurist.org\/paperchase\/2010\/02\/haiti-judge-orders-release-of-8-us.php\">ordered the release of eight missionaries<\/a> in February and then <a href=\"http:\/\/jurist.org\/paperchase\/2010\/03\/haiti-judge-orders-release-of-us.php\">ordered the release of a ninth<\/a> [JURIST reports] in March.
