{"id":570897,"date":"2010-05-19T10:37:31","date_gmt":"2010-05-19T14:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogs.courant.com,2010:\/capitol_watch\/\/9.78249"},"modified":"2010-05-19T11:01:43","modified_gmt":"2010-05-19T15:01:43","slug":"factcheck-org-hits-mcmahon-campaign-for-a-mis-tweet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/570897","title":{"rendered":"FactCheck.org hits McMahon campaign for a mis-Tweet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McMahon press aide Shawn McCoy <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.courant.com\/capitol_watch\/2010\/05\/one-tweet-three-twists-of-the.html\">dashed off a tweet <\/a>last week about Rob Simmons&#8217; stance on the Bush business and dividend taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The Simmons&#8217; camp cried foul, saying McCoy was misrepresenting the former congressman&#8217;s views. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.factcheck.org\/2010\/05\/a-mis-tweet-from-mcmahon\/\">FactCheck.org<\/a>, a respected and non-partisan group that monitors the factually accuracy of political speech, agrees.<\/p>\n<p>To bolster his claim, McCoy&nbsp;cited Simmons&#8217; criticism of&nbsp;millions of dollars in film and television tax credits that World Wrestling Entertainment received while McMahon was CEO.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Simmons&#8217; campaign called the credits McMahon&#8217;s &#8220;own personal stimulus package.&#8221; But the Simmons camp said its issue wasn&#8217;t with the tax credits themselves.
