He was credited for the design of a machine that used special checks matched with a personal identification number to withdraw cash. Comedy actor Reg Varney was the first person to use the machine in 1967, also made it first in UK. He studied at the University of Edinburg and University of Cambridge and later on worked as a managing director of Dela Rue Instruments.
