{"id":575448,"date":"2010-05-20T00:18:46","date_gmt":"2010-05-20T04:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/davidkirkpatrick.wordpress.com\/?p=7470"},"modified":"2010-05-20T00:18:46","modified_gmt":"2010-05-20T04:18:46","slug":"ok-go-and-earl-greyhound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/575448","title":{"rendered":"OK Go and Earl Greyhound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caught OK Go and Earl Greyhound last night at the Granada Theater in Dallas (sorry, but I completely missed the opening third act) and the show was great.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/davidkirkpatrick.wordpress.com\/2010\/01\/21\/ok-go-on-todays-music-industry\/\" >OK Go had some recent issues with their previous label &#8212; EMI<\/a> &#8212; and the current state of the recording industry, and are (at least for) now one of those DIY bands out there working without major label support and have\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2010\/03\/10\/ok-go-say-bye-bye-to-emi\/\" >formed their own label, Paracadute Recordings<\/a>. And, at least for now the move has done nothing to lower the quality, bells or whistles of the tour. Bells &#8212; literally. They performed one song solely on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hand_bells\" >handbells<\/a>. Made generous use of a confetti cannon as well, plus played a great set.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a video shot at the show:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/davidkirkpatrick.wordpress.com\/2010\/05\/19\/ok-go-and-earl-greyhound\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/So2u56Qml9w\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The very pleasant surprise from the show was discovering\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.earlgreyhound.com\/\" >Earl Greyhound<\/a>, a three-piece that puts the &#8220;power&#8221; in power trio. Imagine combining psychedelic\/acid rock a la Pink Floyd before\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Syd_Barrett\" >Syd Barrett<\/a> was institutionalized and grunge\u00a0reminiscent\u00a0of Soundgarden.
