Cole previously spent 13 years at the DOJ, including four years as head of the department&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/criminal\/pin\/\">Public Integrity Section<\/a> [official website], responsible for prosecuting government officials. During the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/ALLPOLITICS\/1997\/gen\/resources\/infocus\/gingrich\/\">1997 investigation<\/a> [CNN backgrounder] of former House Speaker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newt.org\/\">Newt Gingrich<\/a> [personal website], Cole served as the Special Counsel to the <a href=\"http:\/\/ethics.house.gov\">House Ethics Committee<\/a> [official website].
