Medical device maker RF Surgical Systems, which is based in Bellevue, WA, and has R&D operations in San Diego, has raised $2.5 million in equity financing out of a total offering of $5 million, according to a regulatory filing<\/a>. The company confirmed the funding today. It says it had raised approximately $21 million before this latest round, which is an extension to its Series A financing and comes from existing investors. RF Surgical Systems<\/a> was founded in 2004 and has developed patented technologies for detecting and preventing retained surgical sponges in patients undergoing surgery. The company’s product was approved by the FDA in 2006.<\/p>\n
