May 26<\/em> marks the start of Fleet Week<\/strong> in New York City<\/strong>. It\u2019s the time where we find many uniformed sailors wandering the the city\u2019s streets. These sailors and their big ships visit Manhattan. Fleet Week only happens in New York City<\/em>. Fleet Week<\/em> is filled with activities \u2013 open houses on some of the ships, a variety of military demos and a very special tribute that will be held on Memorial Day<\/em> \u2013 to respect these sailors. The New York City bars chime also offers an abundance of special drinks called \u201cFleet Week Drink Special<\/strong>\u201d for our Navy or Marines. \u201cTop Gun<\/strong>\u201d starring Tom Cruise<\/strong> have a free screening on the flight deck of Intrepid<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This celebration is made to give the armed forces in New York the chance to unwind and relax. USMC<\/em> Sgt. David Donaldson <\/strong>said, \u201cThe beautiful things is people here love us so much, and they truly appreciate us.\u201dThe week\u2019s celebration ends on June 2.<\/em> So before the celebration ends make sure that when you see these men or women in uniform walking through the streets of New York, give thanks to their efforts, dedication and dangerous sacrifices \u2013 a simple \u00a0handshake or a pat on a shoulder \u00a0would mean so much to them.<\/p>\n
