{"id":579889,"date":"2010-05-26T17:56:43","date_gmt":"2010-05-26T21:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/northwestvoices\/2011961784_takingahardlookatterrorism.html?syndication=rss"},"modified":"2010-05-26T17:56:43","modified_gmt":"2010-05-26T21:56:43","slug":"taking-a-hard-look-at-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/579889","title":{"rendered":"Taking a hard look at terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kill mothers, keep sons planting bombs in Times Square<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the letter \u201cResponding to terrorism\u201d [NWVoices, May 19], Gregg Rice takes issue with \u201cThe inevitable blowback of war\u201d [Opinion, May 17], in which columnist David Sirota writes about the possibly hundreds of civilian deaths that are the result of President Obama\u2019s strategy of using remote-controlled warplanes firing missiles to combat the Taliban in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The letter reads: \u201cThe U.S. military does not intentionally target civilians. This, however, was the intent of the Times Square bomber and those responsible for the 9\/11 slaughter. There is a huge, gaping moral chasm separating these admittedly tragic events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, to the 5-year-old boy whose mother was killed by one of those missiles, it does not matter whether or not she was killed intentionally.
