Waltham, MA-based Thermo Fisher Scientific has struck a deal to acquire Fermentas International for $260 million in cash, Thermo reports<\/a> today. Fermentas, based in Burlington, Ontario, makes and sells life sciences research materials such as enzymes and reagents as well as diagnostic tools. The firm, which has 500 employees, had 2009 revenue of $54 million. Thermo (NYSE:TMO<\/a>) says that Fermentas is expected to become part of its analytical technologies segment.<\/p>\n
