Yum has already expanded the numbers of their KFC and Pizza Hut stores in the UK in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a major step in our international expansion, and Lakeside is just the start of our plans in this country,&#8221; said Nick Dawson, general manager, Taco Bell UK and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>In the late &#8217;80s, Yum made an unsuccessful bid to bring Taco Bell to England, opening up four eateries, all of which closed within a few years.<\/p>\n<p>But, pointing out that the market for Mexican food in the UK has increased by 9% in just the last two years, Yum thinks the timing is right for a Taco Bell invasion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;UK consumers are looking for choice and value for money,&#8221; said Mr Dawson. &#8220;Taco Bell, whose offerings are priced between 79p and \u00a33, offers both.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/be71cc48-68b2-11df-96f1-00144feab49a.html\" >Taco Bell to open in the UK<\/a> [FT.com]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The people of England may need to upgrade their plumbing &#8212; Taco Bell is coming to the UK later this summer.
