{"id":582513,"date":"2010-05-28T03:09:07","date_gmt":"2010-05-28T07:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/?p=16728"},"modified":"2010-05-28T03:09:07","modified_gmt":"2010-05-28T07:09:07","slug":"zune-streaming-to-get-cheaper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/582513","title":{"rendered":"Zune Streaming to get cheaper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 15px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"Zune for Windows phone 7\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Zune for Windows phone 7\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/zunewp7.png\" width=\"122\" height=\"240\" \/>Lets face it \u2013 a Zune music subscription is not going to be included in our cell phone contracts (ample proof of this exists in the <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/?tag=kin\" >KIN<\/a> One and Two).&#160; It is therefore welcome news that the Zune subscription itself may be dropping from the current $14.99 per month (which includes 10 free MP3s) to something a bit lower.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zune senior product manager Terry Farrell Microsoft is facing un uphill battle with the product, and have seen many of its competitors lower their prices to around $9.99 or even free for streaming music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a challenging business,\u201d Farrell said.<\/p>\n<p>RealNetworks Inc.\u2019s Rhapsody service in April slashed the monthly price of a premium music service to $10 from $14.99.<\/p>\n<p>His admission to BusinessWeek that prices may be dropping, at least for streaming, is therefore no real surprise. So far the Zune music service has only managed to gain 2% of the market, while Amazon has managed to claw back 12% largely related to their presence on Android handsets.<\/p>\n<p>How many of our readers who get a <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/?tag=windows-phone-7-series\" >Windows Phone 7<\/a> device will also get a Zune subscription?
