I was at Trader Joe&#8217;s the other day and strolled over to their sample counter because of this warm delicious smell that wafted in my direction. <\/p>\n<p>The woman behind the sample counter whipped up a batch of Verde Turkey Chili, and I was so happy with my little sample cup of chili, that I knew I had to go home and make my own batch.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeebc0970b-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_salsaverde\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeebc0970b \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeebc0970b-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>The basis of this recipe uses Trader Joe&#8217;s products, but you can modify and use other brands you like. This recipe is pretty simple to make as well, and it not only makes for a wonderful dish to make with turkey left overs, but it&#8217;s nice warm and filling eats, perfect for cold rainy or snowy winter days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients (serves 4):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f11196970c-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_turkeychunks\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f11196970c \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f11196970c-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lb. Left over turkey cut into cubes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a01\/2 lb. ground turkey (you don&#8217;t have to add this but I like adding a second meat texture, and the ground meat gives this dish a more traditional chili look.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large Shiitake mushroom diced (I added the mushroom in because I had a left over one in the fridge. The shiitake added a nice gourmet twist.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2 Cans Trader Joe&#8217;s Cannellini Beans<\/li>\n<li>1 Jar Trader Joe&#8217;s Salsa Verde<\/li>\n<li>2 Cups Trader Joe&#8217;s Chicken Broth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 White or yellow onion chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>3 Cloves of garlic chopped<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 tsp ground Cumin<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 tsp ground Oregano<\/li>\n<li>Olive Oil<\/li>\n<li>Salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li>Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s Get Cookin&#8217;:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee7d9970b-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_garliconions\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee7d9970b \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee7d9970b-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a 3-Quart saucepan on medium heat, pour in 2 tbsp of olive oil, and saute onion and garlic for about a minute, then add in ground turkey. Season to taste ground turkey with salt, pepper, and about 4-5 squirts of Worcestershire sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee9d5970b-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_turkeyshrooms\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee9d5970b \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eee9d5970b-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stir ground turkey in the saucepan until cooked about 2 minutes. Add in the diced shiitake mushroom pieces and cook another 1 minute, just long enough to heat up the mushroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Add in the chicken broth, the whole jar of salsa verde, and the two cans of Cannellini Beans. Stir in with ground turkey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f115c4970c-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_spices\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f115c4970c \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f115c4970c-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a>  <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f112cc970c-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_spicesinpot\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f112cc970c \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e2012875f112cc970c-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add in the cumin and oregano, and thoroughly stir in. I also added in a 1\/2 tsp of cayenne pepper to give my chili a kick of heat. You don&#8217;t have to because the TJ&#8217;s verde salsa has a nice flavor to it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring to a boil and then reduce heat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeeab0970b-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Turkeychili_addturkey\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeeab0970b \" src=\"http:\/\/www.cravingideas.com\/.a\/6a00d83451d48a69e20120a6eeeab0970b-500wi\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><\/img><\/a> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add in the turkey cubes, stir thoroughly in, and let the chili simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes or until the liquid is slightly reduced and thickened.
