{"id":58797,"date":"2009-12-02T02:19:03","date_gmt":"2009-12-02T07:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"tag:www.vegan-food.net:\/\/2c3357b9077785b50f895d079fa3e624"},"modified":"2009-12-02T02:19:03","modified_gmt":"2009-12-02T07:19:03","slug":"chestnut-apple-and-onion-pie-pies-vegetable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/58797","title":{"rendered":"Chestnut, Apple and Onion Pie( Pies &#8211; Vegetable )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Daily Random Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Pastry<\/u>\n<ul>\n<li>350 grams \/ 3\/4 pounds plain flour<\/li>\n<li>175 grams \/ 6 ounces hard margarine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Filling<\/u>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>3 onions cut into wedges<\/li>\n<li>2 apples, peeled cored and cut into wedges<\/li>\n<li>240 grams \/ 1\/2 pounds chestnuts, cooked, peeled and halved<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon chopped fresh sage<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon sesame seeds<\/li>\n<li>Seasoning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p \/><strong>METHOD:<\/strong><br \/>Preheat the oven to 200C\/390F. Sift the flour into a large bowl and rub in the margarine until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in 3-4 tablespoons water to form a firm dough. Wrap in plastic film and chill until ready to use.<\/p>\n<p \/>\nMeanwhile, heat the oil in a large pan and fry the onions over a low heat for 15 minutes stirring occasionally until golden and softened. Stir in the apples, chestnuts, herbs and seasoning.<\/p>\n<p \/>\nRoll out two-thirds of the pastry on a lightly floured surface and use to a line a 5 centimeter \/ 2 inch deep, 20 centimeter \/ 8 inch loose bottomed, fluted flan tin. Spoon in the chestnut mixture.<\/p>\n<p \/>\nRoll out the remaining pastry and use to cover the pie filling, sealing the edges with a little water. Brush the surface with a little water and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.<\/p>\n<p \/>\nBake for 50-55 minutes until golden brown.
