Gerod Rody<\/a>, 29, felt a disconnect between his life as a gay man and his work in the sustainability field, so he founded Out for Sustainability<\/a> to bring the two together and encourage the LGBTQ<\/a> community to embrace the green cause. The group is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with Earth Gay<\/a> events where volunteers can help on projects like urban gardening<\/a> and habitat restoration<\/a>—followed, of course, by a lively afterparty<\/a>, complete with limited-edition “Nature Is So Gay” T-shirts. Rody is also the marketing and communications associate<\/a> at the sustainability-focused Bainbridge Graduate Institute<\/a>, where he earned an MBA in sustainable business, and he runs his own firm, seventh idé<\/a>, which specializes in “eco-innovative-thrifty” design consulting for events.<\/p>\n
