While some have proposed a complete tear-down, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quadrangle.ca\/\">Quadrangle Architects<\/a> have something more green in mind. The Toronto-based architectural firm is proposing the construction of a \u201cGreen Ribbon\u201d over the Gardiner Expressway.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2009\/12\/05\/green-ribbon_2_tVPBZ_69.jpg\" alt=\"green ribbon_2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Green Ribbon will be a seven kilometer long green roof that will be constructed on top of the existing highway. This \u201clinear park in the sky,\u201d would feature paths for walking, biking and rollerblading and include a landscape of grass, shrubs and trees. It will also include concession stands and washrooms.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2009\/12\/05\/green-ribbon_3_H5Tbg_69.jpg\" alt=\"green ribbon_3\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Green Ribbon will be equipped with solar panels and wind turbines that will generate renewable energy for the street, highway and the roof.
