{"id":643418,"date":"2013-02-21T17:25:58","date_gmt":"2013-02-21T22:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bgr.com\/?p=339517"},"modified":"2013-02-21T17:25:58","modified_gmt":"2013-02-21T22:25:58","slug":"riaa-stamps-its-feet-demands-google-do-more-to-stop-piracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/643418","title":{"rendered":"RIAA stamps its feet, demands Google do more to stop piracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/02\/21\/riaa-google-criticism-anti-piracy-339517\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"612\" height=\"434\" src=\"http:\/\/boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/02\/pirate_protest.jpg?w=612&amp;h=434&amp;crop=1\" class=\"attachment-feed_normal wp-post-image\" alt=\"RIAA Google Criticism\" title=\"Pirate Party Rally\" \/><\/a><\/center>The Recording Industry Association of America is not easy to please. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2013\/2\/21\/4011774\/riaa-says-googles-attempts-to-fight-piracy-in-search-results-are\"><em>The Verge<\/em> reports<\/a> that the RIAA is once again bashing Google (GOOG) over its allegedly half-hearted efforts to combat online piracy by claiming that it has &#8220;found no evidence that Google\u2019s policy has had a demonstrable impact on demoting sites with large amounts of piracy.&#8221; Google\u00a0announced this past summer that it would\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bgr.com\/2012\/08\/10\/google-voluntarily-plays-copyright-cop-punishes-violators-in-search-results\/\">start demoting websites that were repeatedly flagged for copyright violations<\/a>\u00a0and the company is <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/02\/19\/google-anti-piracy-plan-331472\/\">reportedly in talks with major credit card companies<\/a> to cut off funds to websites frequently accused of piracy. But the RIAA has found that &#8220;well-known, authorized download sites, such as iTunes, Amazon and eMusic&#8221; aren&#8217;t being featured prominently enough in Google searches for songs. The bottom line, says the RIAA, is that &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/08\/13\/google-piracy-policy-excludes-youtube\/\">whatever Google has done to its search algorithms<\/a> to change the ranking of infringing sites, it doesn&#8217;t appear to be working.&#8221;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheBoyGeniusReport\/~4\/RZh5t9bCohg\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Recording Industry Association of America is not easy to please.
