Paul Bearer, born as William Moody, has died<\/a> at the age of 58. Though the cause of Bearer’s death is unknown, TMZ is reporting<\/a> that he had suffered from health problems related to his obesity and gallbladder for years.<\/p>\n

Bearer made a name for himself in WWE<\/a> (then WWF) wrestling as the manager of The Undertaker, and sometimes Undertaker’s “brother,” Kane, during the 90s and early 00s. His appearances were accompanied by macabre spectacle, often with coffins, gravestones, his trademark urn, or other death-related props.<\/p>\n

The WWE has issued a statement expressing its condolences:<\/p>\n

WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer. Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years.<\/p>\n

Our deepest condolences go out to Moody\u2019s family, friends and fans.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Before joining the WWE, Bearer wrestled in the World Class Champion Wrestling (WCCW). Bearer had also earned a degree in mortuary science, as well as certification as a funeral director, in the early 80s.<\/p>\n
