After a dismal two years, <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/sony\">Sony&#8217;s<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=sne\">SNE<\/a>) chances in the smartphone market have largely been written off. However, over the past month <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/02\/25\/sony-xperia-z-hands-on-342997\/\">the new Sony Xperia Z has shown remarkable strength<\/a> in Europe and some Asian markets. In the second half of February, the Xperia Z <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/140_000_xperia_z_units_shipped_in_japan_in_week_one-news-5579.php\">sold out<\/a> in Japan and France during its launch.
