A bipartisan coalition of senators this week introduced legislation that would lift <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/03\/05\/cellphone-unlocking-legalization-bill-360638\/\">the current ban on consumers unlocking their cellphones<\/a> without permission from their carriers. The bill, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leahy.senate.gov\/press\/sjc-members-introduce-legislation-to-restore-consumer-choice\">was proposed by\u00a0Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy<\/a> (D-Vt.) and cosponsored by Sens. Al Franken (D-Minn.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), would let users unlock their cellphones after completing all service agreements with their wireless carrier.
