{"id":649540,"date":"2013-03-29T08:42:10","date_gmt":"2013-03-29T12:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bgr.com\/?p=403103"},"modified":"2013-03-29T08:42:10","modified_gmt":"2013-03-29T12:42:10","slug":"new-windows-8-hardware-guidelines-suggest-7-inch-windows-tablets-on-the-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/649540","title":{"rendered":"New Windows 8 hardware guidelines suggest 7-inch Windows tablets on the way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/03\/29\/microsoft-windows-7-inch-tablets-403103\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"584\" src=\"http:\/\/boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/ballmertumbsup.jpg?w=650&amp;h=584&amp;crop=1\" class=\"attachment-feed_normal wp-post-image\" alt=\"Microsoft Windows 7-Inch Tablets\" title=\"Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer\" \/><\/a><\/center>One thing has been missing from <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/microsoft\">Microsoft&#8217;s<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=msft\">MSFT<\/a>) foray into the tablet world so far: <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/10\/29\/microsoft-7-inch-surface-tablet-windows-8\/\">A cheaper, smaller tablet that can go toe-to-toe<\/a> with the Kindle Fire HD and the iPad mini. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/new-windows-8-hardware-specs-hint-at-7-inch-tablets-and-a-microsoft-reader-7000013271\/\"><em>ZDNet<\/em> reports<\/a> that recent changes to <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/windows-8\">Windows 8<\/a> hardware certification guidelines suggest that Microsoft is giving OEMs more freedom to make 7-inch tablets since\u00a0&#8220;the new guidelines relax the minimum resolution for Windows 8 devices to 1024 x 768 at a depth of 32 bits.&#8221; <em>ZDNet<\/em> says that OEMs need to justify to Microsoft why they&#8217;re using lower resolutions, however, so it doesn&#8217;t give them carte blanche to release big-screen devices that have inferior displays. Microsoft said in releasing the guidelines that &#8220;partners exploring designs for certain markets could find greater design flexibility helpful,&#8221; so it certainly sounds as though we&#8217;ll be seeing some low-cost Windows 8 tablets <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/03\/28\/windows-blue-details-windows-rt-merged-401672\/\">in the near future<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheBoyGeniusReport\/~4\/9N9chICJ0xU\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One thing has been missing from Microsoft&#8217;s (MSFT) foray into the tablet world so far: A cheaper, smaller tablet that can go toe-to-toe with the Kindle Fire HD and the iPad mini.
