The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/opa\/2013\/04\/robocall.shtm\">Federal Trade Commission this week announced<\/a> the winners of its &#8220;Robocall Challenge&#8221; competition to find ways to stop robocalls and gave special kudos to <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/google\">Google<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=goog\">GOOG<\/a>) engineers\u00a0Daniel Klein and Dean Jackson, who proposed &#8220;the creation of a system that allows users to report, to an online database system, the originating telephone number of unwanted solicitations, advertisements or robotically placed calls.&#8221; If the Google engineers&#8217; system is successfully implemented, blocking robocalls could soon become as simple as blocking <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/03\/06\/gmail-users-claim-google-is-sending-unauthorized-spam-emails-from-their-accounts\/\">unwanted spam messages in Gmail accounts<\/a>, which is certainly a welcome prospect for Americans who are tired of having their dinners interrupted by automated messages.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheBoyGeniusReport\/~4\/cZUDrN-u5Sg\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Election years have become nightmares for many Americans, who are not only subjected to an endless stream of campaign ads but must also put up with campaigns and third-party advocacy groups overloading their phone lines with annoying robocalls.
