{"id":650449,"date":"2013-04-03T15:01:27","date_gmt":"2013-04-03T19:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/betanews.com\/?p=141091"},"modified":"2013-04-03T15:01:27","modified_gmt":"2013-04-03T19:01:27","slug":"skydrive-app-is-microsofts-new-normal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/650449","title":{"rendered":"SkyDrive app is Microsoft&#8217;s &#8216;new normal&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/speed-road-fast-600x418.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"speed road fast\" width=\"600\" height=\"418\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-106642\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Microsoft continues to match development pace with Google, releasing today yet <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2013\/04\/03\/microsoft-releases-skydrive-3-for-ios\/\" >another app update<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downloadcrew.com\/article\/26445-skydrive_mobile\" >SkyDrive 3.0 for iOS<\/a> follows many other recent releases, including <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2013\/04\/02\/its-about-time-microsofts-consumer-cloud-calendar-gets-a-new-outlook\/\" >Outlook.com Calendar<\/a> (this week), <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2013\/03\/25\/windows-8rt-mail-calendar-people-app-updates-mean-more-than-you-think\/\" >Windows 8\/RT Mail, Calendar and People apps<\/a> (last week) and <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2013\/03\/19\/dropbox-2-0-2-and-microsoft-skydrive-2013-stomp-the-bugs\/\" >SkyDrive<\/a> (mid-March), among others. <\/p>\n<p>In my news analysis about the new Windows 8\/RT core apps, I asserted: &#8220;It&#8217;s a new Microsoft&#8221;, explaining how the company has greatly picked up the pace of new product development &#8212; something also seen in <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/topic\/windows-blue\/\" >Windows Blue<\/a>, which I expect to ship less than a year after the <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2013\/03\/05\/how-i-came-to-love-windows-again\/\" >great 8<\/a>. A day following my analysis, Frank Shaw, Microsoft corporate communications chief, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.technet.com\/b\/microsoft_blog\/archive\/2013\/03\/26\/looking-back-and-springing-ahead.aspx\" >said<\/a> that &#8220;continuous development cycle is the new normal across Microsoft&#8221;, which is consistent with reinvention as the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2012\/10\/10\/get-a-life-microsoft-isnt-trying-to-be-apple\/\" >devices and services<\/a>&#8221; company that CEO <a href=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/2012\/10\/09\/steve-ballmer-asks-customers-partners-and-shareholders-to-believe-in-microsoft\/\" >Steve Ballmer described<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>The new SkyDrive for iOS version is one more part of a process every Microsoft customer should get used to. Expect more-frequent updates and stronger support for more platforms &#8212; yes, Android and iOS. Mike Torres, Microsoft group product manager <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/skydrive\/b\/skydrive\/archive\/2013\/04\/03\/update-to-skydrive-app-for-ios.aspx\" >ticks through<\/a> the improvements:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini<\/li>\n<li>Updated app icons and user experience<\/li>\n<li>Works better with your photos:\n<ul>\n<li>Download full resolution photos to your iPhone or iPad<\/li>\n<li>Control the size of photos you upload and download<\/li>\n<li>Photo metadata is retained when you upload to SkyDrive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Opening and saving files to SkyDrive works better with other apps on your iOS devices<\/li>\n<li>Many other small changes, bug fixes and performance improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>SkyDrive 3.0 requires iOS 5 or later and supports iPhone and iPad.
