The IP covered in the small deal includes patents originally filed by\u00a0Palm, Bell Communications Research and Geoworks. As <em>9to5Mac<\/em> points out, former <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/apple\">Apple<\/a> CEO Steve Jobs once told then-Palm CEO\u00a0Ed Colligan that the company&#8217;s patents were &#8220;not that great,&#8221; and that Apple had passed on an earlier opportunity to acquire them to protect the <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/iphone\">iPhone<\/a> because they were basically worthless.
