{"id":652082,"date":"2013-04-12T06:32:01","date_gmt":"2013-04-12T10:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/betanews.com\/?p=142724"},"modified":"2013-04-12T06:32:01","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T10:32:01","slug":"bing-searches-throw-up-more-malware-sites-than-google","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/652082","title":{"rendered":"Bing searches throw up more malware sites than Google"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-67450\" title=\"hacked virus malware\" src=\"http:\/\/betanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/hacked-virus-malware-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>We all know that search engine results can sometimes serve up malware, but if you\u2019re using Bing you\u2019re five times more likely to get malicious links than if you\u2019re using Google.<\/p>\n<p>In an 18-month study, independent German lab <a title=\"AV-Test PDF\" href=\"http:\/\/www.av-test.org\/fileadmin\/pdf\/avtest_2013-03_search_engines_malware_english.pdf\" >AV-Test<\/a>\u00a0 discovered that all search engines sometimes serve up Trojans and other malware amongst their results despite the search providers&#8217; best efforts to prevent it.<\/p>\n<p>AV-Test found 5,000 malware links across 40 million websites, so toxic search results are perhaps rarer than you\u2019d think. However, it seems that developers are putting their efforts into SEO techniques so that their results appear higher up the rankings where users are most vulnerable to clicking without thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Google and Bing proved to be the safest search engines in the study, but of the two it\u2019s Bing that\u2019s more likely to give you a nasty surprise when clicking on a link, delivering 1,285 malicious results to Google\u2019s 272.
