These airbags were <strong>manufactured improperly by an outside supplier.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10251\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 510px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10251\" alt=\"Toyota Recalls 2001-03 Tundra Pickups\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.tundraheadquarters.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2000_toyota_tundra_extended-cab-pickup_limited_fq_oem_1_500.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A third-party supplier of airbags is being blamed for the recall on 2001-2003 Toyota Tundra pickups.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span id=\"more-10250\"><\/span>The vehicles Toyota is recalling include the\u00a0Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Sequoia, and Tundra and Lexus SC 430 models. In all there are about 510,000 vehicles in the U.S. affected &#8211; 1.73 million globally.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota says, in a press release, that the vehicles have &#8220;front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers. Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Much like other recalls, owners will\u00a0receive\u00a0a letter detailing the recall and local dealer information. Dealers will inspect and replace the airbag at no charge.<\/p>\n<p>According to Toyota, &#8220;Detailed information is available to customers at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toyota.com\/recall\" >www.toyota.com\/recall<\/a>, the Toyota Customer Experience at 1 800-331-4331, <a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Tundraheadquarterscom\/~3\/G7x0FOMWJSk\/www.lexus.com\/recall\" >www.lexus.com\/recall<\/a> and Lexus Customer Satisfaction (1 800-255-3987).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also recalling faulty airbags is Honda, Nissan and Mazda.
