The $11.58 EPS represented a 15% year-over-year increase from Q1 2012. <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/google\">Google&#8217;s<\/a> shares immediately climbed by 2% in after hours trading on news that it had beat expectations. On the downside for Google was the\u00a0$271 million operating loss posted by its Motorola Mobility unit, which the company has <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/05\/22\/google-motorola-acquisition-merger-android-smartphones\/\">struggled to return to profitability ever since its acquisition in 2012<\/a>.
