Unnamed sources <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/articles\/2013-04-24\/here-comes-amazons-kindle-tv-set-top-box\">have told <em>Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/amazon\">Amazon<\/a> is planning to release a set-top box that &#8220;will plug into TVs and give users access to Amazon\u2019s expanding video offerings&#8221; including &#8220;its a la carte Video on Demand store, which features newer films and TV shows, and <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/12\/13\/amazon-instant-video-app-iphone\/\">its Instant Video service<\/a>, which is free for subscribers to the Amazon Prime two-day shipping package.&#8221; <em>Businessweek&#8217;s<\/em> sources say that Amazon is building its own dedicated set-top box to draw more traffic to its own content offerings since Amazon is just one of many video streaming apps available on consoles such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/xbox\">Xbox<\/a> and Sony&#8217;s PlayStation. However, <em>Businessweek&#8217;s<\/em> sources say that the set-top box will &#8220;likely&#8221; offer access to <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/04\/01\/cable-cord-cutting-analysis-408642\/\">competing streaming apps such as Netflix and Hulu<\/a> even though it will be primarily centered around Amazon&#8217;s video services.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheBoyGeniusReport\/~4\/zplFM2c074c\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amazon is getting ready to make its biggest push yet into consumers&#8217; living rooms.
