{"id":655693,"date":"2013-05-02T09:15:14","date_gmt":"2013-05-02T13:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.webpronews.com\/?p=227861"},"modified":"2013-05-02T09:15:14","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T13:15:14","slug":"william-roache-soap-actor-gets-rape-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/655693","title":{"rendered":"William Roache: Soap Actor Gets Rape Charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Guinness World Record holder for the longest-serving soap actor has now been charged with rape.<\/p>\n<p>According to a BBC News <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-22378146\">report<\/a>, 81-year-old William Roache has been charged with two counts of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webpronews.com\/tag\/rape\">rape<\/a>.  Roache plays Ken Barlow on the long-running British soap opera <em>Coronation Street<\/em>.  He has appeared in the series since its first episode in 1960.<\/p>\n<p>Roache is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in 1967.  The first hearing on the charges is scheduled for May 14.<\/p>\n<p>Roach has issued a statement through his lawyers, saying:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am astounded and deeply horrified by the extraordinary events of the last 24 hours.
