{"id":658447,"date":"2013-05-16T10:00:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T14:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.datacenterknowledge.com\/?p=97768"},"modified":"2013-05-16T10:00:07","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T14:00:07","slug":"400g-network-deployed-using-cyan-blue-planet-sdn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/658447","title":{"rendered":"400G Network Deployed Using Cyan Blue Planet SDN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s our review of some of this week\u2019s noteworthy links for the data center industry:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cyan selected by GlobalConnect for 400G network<\/strong>. \u00a0Cyan (CYNI) customer GlobalConnect, the leading\u00a0Danish alternative provider of network and hosting services, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyaninc.com\/en\/keep-up\/press-releases\/2013\/globl-connect\/\">announced<\/a> it has completed the deployment of a 400G network employing the Cyan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.datacenterknowledge.com\/archives\/2012\/11\/08\/cyan-launches-software-defined-networking-blue-planet-software\/\">Blue Planet<\/a> software-defined networking (SDN) system and Z-Series packet-optical platform throughout Denmark.\u00a0The Denmark-wide 400G rollout is anchored by Cyan Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTPs).\u00a0The GlobalConnect network spans Denmark with 12,000 fiber route kilometers and includes extensions into northern Germany and southern Sweden.\u00a0The network upgrade allows GlobalConnect to deliver a wide variety of ultra-high-capacity wavelength and Ethernet services to enterprise customers and data center operators, as well as wholesale services to other carriers.\u00a0\u201cMany people think that the name of the game for service providers is simply adding more and more capacity,&#8221; said Peter Olsen, GlobalConnect chief technical officer.\u00a0\u00a0&#8221;While capacity is certainly crucial, unless we can drive enhanced capabilities and features into our network we will suffer from bandwidth commoditization. Working with Cyan, we\u2019ve been able to architect a next-generation network that is operationally more efficient, delivers the scalability we need, and provides a means to deliver enhanced services to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.juniper.net\/press-releases\/yahoo-japan-deploys-juniper-networks-qfabric-syst-nyse-jnpr-1016744\"><strong>Yahoo! Japan deploys Juniper QFabric.<\/strong><\/a> Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that Yahoo! Japan\u00a0has deployed a Juniper Networks QFX3000-M QFabric System at its new environmentally friendly &#8220;Shirakawa Data Center.&#8221; It is a large-scale IT data center that covers the Tokyo metropolitan area and East Japan. It now operates a single-layer network fabric based on Juniper Networks QFabric technology to deliver more cost-effective, low-latency performance and linear scalability. The deployed system will support\u00a0up to 768 ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) with low latency, providing YAHOO! Japan customers with a high-quality online experience, no matter where they are. A\u00a0MX960 3D Universal Edge Router is also implemented at the site to support advanced services.\u00a0&#8221;YAHOO! Japan is a pioneer in Internet service delivery, and Juniper Networks has been proud to play a part of this success for many years,&#8221; said Douglas Murray, senior vice president, Juniper Networks Asia Pacific.\u00a0&#8221;Implementing QFabric as the network foundation of its new state-of-the-art data center will support the company&#8217;s expansion and future innovation in Japan seamlessly.
