Is Jurassic Park 4<\/em> going to be a reboot of the classic 1994 film? Sam Neil, who played Dr. Alan Grant in the first and third installments, seems to think so.<\/p>\n

“I’m told it’s a big reboot, a total re-jig,” he said in a lengthy interview with The Dominion Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jurassic Park 4<\/em> has been in various stages of production for awhile. Back in 2011, we heard rumors that Steven Spielberg himself was holding meetings with possible screenwriters<\/a>, last summer we heard that Rise of the Planet of the Apes<\/em> writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver would helm the script. Then, in an interview with Collider<\/a>, producer Frank Marshall hinted at a 2014 release date for the much-anticipated film.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say that it will be on the screen within two years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also suggested that the film would be a true sequel, not a reboot. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s gonna be great about it, technology\u2019s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Then, earlier this month, we heard from Universal that the film would be delayed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal\u2019s beloved franchise,\u201d said the studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’ve also heard rumors that the film would take place at the location of the original blockbuster<\/a>, Isla Nubar. Sounds about right for a reboot.<\/p>\n

Reboot…sequel…reimagining…whatever the case, we’ll probably not see Jurassic Park 4<\/em> until 2015, at the earliest. While you wait, please enjoy some Goldblum. <\/p>\n
