As <a href=\"http:\/\/allthingsd.com\/20130522\/why-microsofts-xbox-one-wont-kick-the-cable-guy-out-of-your-house\/\"><em>AllThingsD&#8217;s<\/em> Peter Kafka\u00a0notes<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a> is\u00a0\u00a0limiting the amount of live television content <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/xbox-one\">Xbox One<\/a> users can access without a cable subscription, thus ensuring that <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/04\/01\/cable-cord-cutting-analysis-408642\/\">cable providers don&#8217;t feel threatened<\/a>.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/boygeniusreport.wordpress.com\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In order to get the TV part of Xbox One to work, you\u2019ll essentially end up plugging it into your existing cable box, via\u00a0another\u00a0box that lets you perform an &#8216;HDMI pass-through,'&#8221; writes Kafka. &#8220;In essence, Xbox One is acting as a sort of custom remote for your cable box, which will let you change the channel; it is also creating its own programming guide so you can see what\u2019s on TV.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As Kafka also notes, Microsoft has worked with ESPN and HBO to create Xbox apps that only deliver content if you&#8217;re already subscribed to a cable service.
