It made no sense that such data should be proprietary, and it appears that, finally, UK officials are realizing this.  Starting next year, the UK will <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/technology\/8402327.stm\" >free up postal code data<\/a> so that anyone can use it.
