{"id":76205,"date":"2009-12-11T10:27:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-11T15:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/stocks-muted-despite-retail-sales-surprise-2009-12"},"modified":"2009-12-11T10:27:00","modified_gmt":"2009-12-11T15:27:00","slug":"stocks-muted-despite-huge-retail-sales-surprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/76205","title":{"rendered":"Stocks Muted Despite Huge Retail Sales Surprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Retail sales grew at double rate expected by consensus in November, yet the market doesn&#8217;t seem all that excited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/retail\/marts\/www\/retail.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">U.S. Census Bureau:<\/span><\/a> The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for November, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $352.1 billion, an increase of 1.3 percent (&plusmn;0.5%) from the previous month and 1.9 percent (&plusmn;0.5%) above November 2008.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/November-retail-sales-rise-apf-1543887522.html?x=0&amp;sec=topStories&amp;pos=1&amp;asset=&amp;ccode=\">AP:<\/a> It was the biggest advance [+1.3%] since sales jumped 2.4 percent in August, and more than double the 0.6 percent increase economists had expected.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/~~\/f?id=4b2263190000000000369984\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Retail\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Maybe because it was all gasoline!
