{"id":89886,"date":"2009-12-19T07:42:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-19T12:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/dollar-bullish-etf-runs-out-of-shares-2009-12"},"modified":"2009-12-19T07:42:00","modified_gmt":"2009-12-19T12:42:00","slug":"dollar-bullish-fund-runs-out-of-shares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/89886","title":{"rendered":"Dollar-Bullish Fund Runs Out Of Shares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dollar bulls swamped the dollar-bullish exchange traded fund &#8216;UUP&#8217; on Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704247504574604172287466220.html?mod=WSJ_hps_sections_markets\">WSJ:<\/a> Strong demand for instruments that take bullish positions on the dollar prompted one such exchange-traded fund to be halted on Friday, after it ran out of shares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;The fund issued all of the remaining shares to its authorized participants,&#8221; said DB Commodity Services, which offers the ETF, in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The PowerShares DB U.S. Dollar Index Bullish Fund is often referred to by its symbol, UUP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">DB Commodity Services, which offers the U.S. Dollar Index Bullish Fund, said in a prepared statement Friday that it filed on Dec. 8 to create 240 million additional shares of UUP &#8220;to manage exceptional investor demand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The surprising thing is that UUP hasn&#8217;t even rallied that much yet. These investors must be expecting a massive dollar move ahead, given how frenzied they have become.
