Norton). Climate change, ecological collapse and the damage wrought by the ever expanding global, economic system dominated by big corporations and big government demanded an update of her first edition in 1992.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em>If You Love This Planet<\/em> sounds a compelling alarm to the damage one species has managed to cause to the fundamental life-sustaining biological processes on Earth \u2013 along with our placid, if not direct, exploitation of our own species for economic gain, power grab, or as a result of omitted (or outright deceptive) information.<span> <\/span>That species is, of course, <em>homo sapiens<\/em>.<span> <\/span>Caldicott\u2019s hard-hitting book dives into the diagnosis and causes, followed by a practical prescription and offers a few simply stated cures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dr. Caldicott, a pediatrician, knows her stuff, as the founding president of Physicians for Social Responsibility and a widely recognized champion for nuclear disarmament.<span> <\/span>She explains how the planet, like a human body, is an organism with \u201ca natural system of interacting homeostatic mechanisms.\u201d<span> <\/span>If one is diseased, others start to fail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inspiredeconomist.com\/2009\/12\/02\/book-review-if-love-this-planet\/\" class=\"more-link\">Read more of this story &#187;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/inspiredeconomist\/com\/~4\/H405xsNPoCw\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So who doesn\u2019t love this planet?
