\"\"<\/a><\/span>This was a difficult book for me, as a mother, to read. The Silent Gift, <\/em><\/a>(Bethany House\/ Oct 2009): Michael Landon Jr. and Cindy Kelley have written a moving book that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Set in the time of the Great Depression of the 1930s, it’s a painful reminder of how bad things once were for children who weren’t “normal” and the parents who didn’t want to merely institutionalize them.<\/p>\n

From beginning to end, the story is gripping, emotionally charged, and dramatic. If you’re looking for an easy, lighthearted read, The Silent Gift<\/em> is not for you. But if you’re looking for a book with depth and heart, filled with twists and turns, that thoroughly captivates you, then The Silent Gift <\/em>is definitely the one for you. I highly recommend it!<\/p>\n
