{"id":98875,"date":"2009-12-24T14:44:40","date_gmt":"2009-12-24T19:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stoth.com\/2009\/12\/24\/for-nvidia-and-intel-flash-video-is-a-double-edged-sword\/"},"modified":"2009-12-24T14:44:40","modified_gmt":"2009-12-24T19:44:40","slug":"for-nvidia-and-intel-flash-video-is-a-double-edged-sword","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/98875","title":{"rendered":"For NVIDIA and Intel, Flash video is a double-edged sword"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/news\/2009\/12\/for-nvidia-and-intel-flash-video-is-a-two-edged-sword.ars?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=rss\"><br \/>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"4\" hspace=\"4\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.arstechnica.com\/assets\/2009\/12\/sword_ars-thumb-230x130-10796-f.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n  <\/a><br \/>\n        <!--body--><\/p>\n<p>\nOne of my favorite Intel foibles to ridicule is the way that the company continues to stress Flash support as a rationale for x86 in handheld portables&#8212;x86, we&#8217;re told repeatedly, gives you &#8220;the full Internet experience,&#8221; by which Intel means, &#8220;you can run Flash on it.&#8221; This is supposed to make x86 a better option than ARM for portable CPUs, but the chipmaker doesn&#8217;t bother to mention that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arm.com\/news\/26062.html\">ARM Flash support is here<\/a> as of Flash 10.1, making their favorite talking point inoperative.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWith the arrival of Flash 10.1, ARM-based SoCs from vendors like NVIDIA can now offer &#8220;the full Internet experience,&#8221; so the company&#8217;s Tegra line competes with x86-based SoCs for Web-enabled design wins on pure price\/performance\/watt.
