The California based company which has been bringing people together since October of 2005 partnered with AR application developer “Layar” back in August of 2009. Since then, the same social networking tools that have made Brightkite a success have been available in real-time through the lens of your phone’s camera.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, in addition to photos and posts from friends, users of the Brightkite layer can receive up-to-date and relevant location based advertising in an AR format simply by opening the application and pointing their phone at a participating business. As the holiday season hits a fever pitch, timing couldn’t be more perfect for the new feature, which is set to run through the end of December and will act as a proving ground for the new ad solution.<\/p>\n
