Webmaster Job Description
Overview: Organized, creative tech-savvy project coordinator assisting Podium web site designer and chief programmer to ensure integrity of architecture data, web site navigation, links to partner sites and communication of production details within the Podium organization.
FUNCTIONS
• Coordinate and perform computer-based production tasks to facilitate web site releases and updates on the Podium site
• Act as operational liaison between committees such as Executive Committee, Web Site Committee, Development/Events Committee and Programs Committee, documenting all online publication details of web-ready content and requisite approvals
• Data entry of updates, including the scheduling of periodic churn of online content planned as updated portions of the Podium web site, especially in cases such as a people’s choice program, requiring the monitoring of statistical user interaction for integrity
• Publish schedule of Podium web site updates within the organization, and monitor all forecasted content refresh frames
• Communicate deadlines and content development timelines throughout Podium organization
• Contribute to web site production process in all stages, ranging from initial conceptualization to final release on the Internet
• Coordinate data files used by production providers such as journal printer and web site creators, maintaining an efficient translation from one data format to the other, thus creating a streamlined “factory approach” from one data format to the other
SKILLS
• Project management skills including budgetary acumen and awareness of web site production efficiencies
• Effective personal communications skills, a talent for the written word and demonstrates compelling presentation skills
• Functional knowledge of HTML (web site construction language)
• Knowledge/interest in visual design as it relates to interactive media
• Understanding of top-level functional design, reading navigational flow charts and how they translate into the digital realm
• Team player, works well in a fluid, spontaneous business situation, with a particular knowledge of the non-profit dynamic
• Willingness to learn and contribute in an ever-changing technology environment
